We Will Never Forget! September 11, 2009 at 5:15 pm

I wanted to write a quick post in honor of all the victims and heroes who were apart of 9/11.  Even though I am not from New York, nor do I have any friends or family that are from there, I still felt deeply affected by 9/11 as I am sure most Americans did.  My heart still goes out to those people.  Every day there is a missing void in their lives.  I can not imagine the horrors the people in the twin towers, or in the airplanes that were hijacked experienced.

I was thousands of miles away from New York when it happened and I was still in shock.  I remember I was in my first semester of college and I was on my way to school.  I was in such a hurry to get to class that I didn’t even bother turning on the news in the morning.  As I was driving to school I was listening to my local radio station and to my surprise everyone was so somber.  I was so confused on what was going on.  As I tried to understand what had just happened, I remembered being in almost a state of shock.  It was as if everything I believed was falling apart.  My whole sense of security was gone and I was so sad and angry.  It will be a day I will never forget.

I have a deep respect for the military as well as the police force and firemen/women.  I come from a military family and my own father was deployed to the Gulf war in the early 90’s.  I know what that does to a family and how hard it is when a loved one is sent off to war.  I sometimes think that the families are the unspoken heroes too.   So to every military personnel, to every policeman or woman and to every fireman or woman, I say thank you…  Thank you to your families too, thank you for sacrificing your men and women to serve and protect our country.  Words can not begin to express my deep appreciation.

I was going through some pictures I took awhile ago at Balboa Park and I came across this one.  I thought this picture of the flower below is so patriotic!  At the time that I took the picture I did not plan on it being patriotic, but the colors of the flowers in the background just so happened to be red and blue.  This picture has all the colors of the American flag.  That’s what I like to call… a happy accident!  So this will be my picture of the day.
