Dustin’s Senior Pictures May 21, 2012 at 8:19 pm

Yesterday, Dustin and I spent the afternoon downtown taking his senior pictures.  Dustin was a lot of fun to take pictures of.  I had to be on it to catch his silly side through out the shoot.  While editing his pictures, he had me laughing all over again!

So “fierce!”

Mike’s Senior Pictures May 16, 2011 at 10:08 pm

My brother in law Mike (the little brother I never had) is graduating this year.  When I met Mike, he was 10 year’s old.  It’s been fun seeing him grow up and become the man he is today.  To say the least, I was excited to take his senior pictures for him today.

Originally I had this vision for Mike’s pictures.  I wanted to go Downtown and take some really cool grungy urban shots.  Due to a series of conflicting events, tonight was my only night to do pictures and we were a bit limited.  We stayed close to home since Don was on call and I wanted to be close enough to go back home to watch our son in case he got a call.  My favorite place to shoot in Santee is at the park by my house, but I decided to do something different.  I didn’t see Mike as a park kind of guy, even though he was perfectly ok with that.  So we went to a few locations through out East County in the small amount of time we had.  Our first stop was good ole’ Lakeside.  And this was not the nice part of Lakeside mind you!  I wanted some grungy shots and I was going to find it some where.  Even if it was in Lakeside.  This little spot is located next to a run down trailer park and some falling apart industrial buildings.  That’s the first place most people would love to get their pictures taken right?!?!  🙂

Next stop was my old church building in Lakeside.  I am a huge sucker for red bricks.  I just love them and the texture in it!

This last spot is an area I drive by every single day.  I’ve been wanting to take someone’s picture here for quite some time now.  I am also a sucker for brush and nature.  This photoshoot had the best of all kinds of stuff!  For anyone that knows Santee, I would like to see if they can guess where this is at.

Ashley’s Senior Pictures March 27, 2011 at 7:41 pm

Today I met Ashley at Balboa Park to do her Senior pictures.  She was my first live subject since taking my composition class through IFLC.  If you haven’t heard of IFLC, check them out, they are amazing and I have learned so much from them during my journey of photography.  http://www.iflcsandiego.com/

I had so much fun today incorporating some of the things I learned from my class.  Ashley told me she loved taking pictures and it was a perfect recipe for an awesome photo shoot.  I just wished we had more time, I think I could have kept going all afternoon.  I have photographed Balboa Park a million times and yet, my eyes were open to so many fun and new things I never saw there before!  Since taking my composition class, I find myself composing the world around me, even if I don’t have a camera.  But today, I had my camera with me and the world was my playing field!  Thanks for being my awesome subject Ashley, I hope you had as much fun as I did and I can’t wait for you to see the rest of the pictures!

Kelly Rowland’s Graduation Pictures May 2, 2010 at 9:30 am

No not Kelly Rowland the singer…  :o)  This Kelly Rowland is my husband’s cousin.  She is graduating high school in June.  It is crazy to see these kids growing up so fast.  It sure makes me feel old!  Yesterday we went to Balboa Park and took her pictures there.  It was a gorgeous day with a nice cool breeze to cool us down.  Kelly was an awesome model.  She was even patient while I practiced a few techniques I learned earlier that day in my flash photography class.  Anyways we are proud of Kelly and excited for the next chapter in her life at San Diego State College.  Here are a few pictures from yesterday:

Graduation and Family Pictures at 9:23 am

On Friday I finally got to photography my sister’s family.  It’s about time!!!  I have been doing photography for awhile now and this is the first time I have photographed their family!  They are not big picture people…  It took , my sister’s husband to graduate to get these pictures done. :o)  I said what’s going to be the next big event to make you guys take pictures!?!?!  So my brother in law is graduating this Month from SDSU.  It has been a long road and he finally did it.  We are very excited for him and his family.  I know it has been a sacrifice for everyone during this long journey so we are very proud of him.  We went to San Diego State University to take their pictures.  I have never been there before and I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the campus was.  Here are a few of my favorites:

I especially loved this picture for the meaning behind it.  The message I was trying to portray was the family behind my brother in law.  Through his whole college education his family was behind him 100% supporting him along the way.  They are truly a close tight knit family.

Truth be told, this was how most of the shoot went.  I had to delete a lot of pictures because at least one of them was being silly in the picture.  So this one I got ALL of them being silly.  This is their personality so we had to show it.  I love my nieces and nephews.  They are always good for a fun picture.

Beverly’s Senior Pictures 5/30/09 May 31, 2009 at 9:57 pm

On Saturday I met Beverly at Balboa Park to take her senior pictures.  It was cold and it was kind of raining, actually it was more misty than rainy.  Needless to say Beverly was a trooper and had no protests to getting on the grass (even though it was wet.)  She was up for anything.  I was glad she did because we got some great pictures from that.  It was a lot of fun inspite of the may gray weather we were having.  Here are a few fun pictures from that session.

Annie’s Senior Pictures 5/9/09 May 10, 2009 at 2:56 pm

Yesterday I had the opportunity to photograph Annie for her Senior pictures.  I have known Annie since she was a little girl and I can’t believe she is already a senior!  What an exciting time for her.  Annie is also an excellent dancer.  She has quite the talent for it.  We were able to get a few shots of her in her dancing uniform for school as well.  Here are some of my favorites!
